WWE’s Internal Reaction to Daniel Garcia Re-Signing with AEW

Daniel Garcia has been a hot topic in the wrestling world, particularly after his decision to re-sign with AEW, which dashed rumors about a potential jump to WWE. According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE had been well aware that AEW offered Garcia a significantly higher deal than what they could have matched. Meltzer reported:

“Those in WWE said more than a month back that the AEW deal was significantly higher and they expected he would take it. But he was obviously going back-and-forth because the story was he would have beaten MJF, since MJF was leaving and he was staying, but they didn’t want him to win unless he signed the long-term deal, which he didn’t do.”

WWE’s internal reaction seemed to be one of cautious optimism initially, as they believed Garcia’s contract negotiations were still open-ended. Some even speculated that Garcia could have been positioned to defeat MJF had he signed with AEW sooner.
