Christian Cage truly showed the world why he is one of the best heels in pro wrestling over the past year thanks to his work in AEW, but he is also remembered for his time in WWE. With that said, Todd Grisham has now revealed the reason behind his infamous reaction to Christian Cage’s WWE return.

Throughout his career in WWE, Christian was always seen as the weaker half of his team with Adam Copeland. Copeland ultimately became one of the most accomplished WWE Superstars in the history of the company. While Christian was successful, he never reached the heights Copeland did and this includes the fact that Copeland is a WWE Hall of Famer while Christian Cage is not.

In early 2009, Christian made his comeback after almost four years away, but Todd Grisham’s lackluster response of “It’s Christian” left many fans disappointed. Grisham took to Twitter and revealed that Vince McMahon had instructed him not to show excitement when Christian returned.

Before Grisham walked out for the show, McMahon called him over and told him to keep his reaction subdued, simply stating that he should say, “It’s Christian” without any enthusiasm. Grisham acknowledged the instruction and followed it during the broadcast.

”Right before I walked out of the Gorillia position before the show. Vince McMahon called me over and said “When Christian walks out..don’t get excited at all simply say‘it’s Christian’ and that’s it. Understand me?” Me:“Yes sir””

That’s why it comes as no surprise Christian Cage has no interest in a WWE Hall of Fame induction either. After all, it’s no secret Vince McMahon never liked Christian Cage or saw him as a top star. Regardless, Cage is more than happy in AEW right now and that’s all that matters to him.

How do you think Christian Cage’s legacy in professional wrestling would have evolved if Vince McMahon had seen him as a top star during his WWE career? Let us know in the comments below.
