AEW President Tony Khan is in charge of the entire company, including the women’s division, which has received some criticism lately. However, Khan thinks that adding AEW Women’s Tag Team Titles would be a fantastic idea, especially as the women’s roster keeps growing. Despite this positive outlook, the current status of AEW’s plans to introduce women’s tag titles remains unclear.

Since its start, the AEW Women’s Division has faced criticism, with fans worried about the lack of attention and focus given to it. Some believe that Tony Khan, as the head of AEW, hasn’t prioritized this division as much as others within the promotion. Despite this, the Women’s Division has grown significantly over the years, with more talent signing on. This growth has led fans to wonder if AEW will finally introduce tag titles for women.

During the post-AEW Double or Nothing media scrum, Tony Khan was asked about the possibility of adding an AEW Women’s Tag Team or Trios division. He was open to the idea and mentioned his interest in introducing mixed tag team championships as well.

”Oh yeah absolutely. We’ve talked about that, we’ve talked about a lot of potential additions in terms of championships. We have some really strong rivalries emerging amongst the World Championship, TBS Championship and ROH. The men’s and women’s division, I think there are a lot of possibilities down the line.”

“I also think something different we can do here is I’ve had interest in would be mixed tag team championships. I think a lot of people would be interested in that too and that would set AEW apart, so I’d also be interested in mixed tag team championships.”

While speaking during Fightful Select’s Q&A podcast, Sean Ross Sapp was asked about any updates on AEW potentially adding a Women’s Tag Team title, following Tony Khan’s mention a few months ago. Sapp replied that he hasn’t heard of any serious plans for it. He noted that the closest thing to a women’s tag team title was a tournament that took place a few years ago. While the idea has been suggested multiple times, he hasn’t seen any concrete steps being taken toward implementing it.

”I’ve never heard of any serious plans of a women’s tag team titles. In fact, the closest I’ve ever heard was the women’s tag team tournament years ago. It’s definitely been pitched at times, but I haven’t learned of any steps there.”

Saraya has already called for AEW to introduce Women’s Tag Team Championships in the past. Fans will have to wait and see when AEW will introduce tag team or trios titles, as many believe the company needs them to enhance the women’s division.
