Carmelo Hayes is aiming to capture his first WWE main roster championship, as he challenges LA Knight for the United States Championship on the October 11 episode of SmackDown. The highly anticipated match is set to take place at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina.

Hayes earned his shot at the U.S. title after a significant victory over AJ Styles last Friday. Though the win came by referee stoppage after Styles was unable to continue due to an injury, LA Knight quickly attacked Hayes after the decision, setting the stage for tonight’s showdown.

In the lead-up to the title match, both Hayes and Knight have engaged in a heated war of words on Twitter/X. LA Knight started the exchange with some strong words, “Greenville gets to watch me embarrass Carmelo Hayes up close and personal. No better way to spend a Friday night in my opinion… YEAH.”

Hayes wasn’t impressed by Knight’s tweet, responding with a sharp retort, “Chat GPT ass tweet.”

Knight, never one to let a challenge go unanswered, fired back with, “You’ll need it to form thoughts after tomorrow, rook.”

Hayes, continuing his unbothered attitude, replied, “2K MyCareer ass response.”

The back-and-forth has only amped up anticipation for their match tonight, as both superstars seem eager to prove themselves not only in the ring but also on social media.

While Carmelo Hayes has his sights set on the United States Championship, he’s also been caught up in an ongoing rivalry with Andrade. The two are currently tied at 3-3, with a final seventh match likely looming to settle their feud.

SmackDown airs live on the USA Network, with LA Knight defending his title against the rising star, Carmelo Hayes. As a reminder, Ringside News will have live play-by-play of the event in our SmackDown results section.
