WWE brought its October 8 episode of NXT to The Factory in Chesterfield, MO, delivering an eventful night for Randy Orton. The Saint Louis suburb showed up in full force, with a packed crowd ready to see The Viper in action. Orton faced off against Je’Von Evans, and the audience on the edge of their seats to see how bouncy Evans would be against the shoo-in WWE Hall of Famer.

The main event featured intense back-and-forth action, with Je’Von Evans attempting a cutter on Randy Orton twice, only for Orton to counter each time. On his third try, Evans finally connected with the move, landing the cutter on The Apex Predator. However, the bout was far from over, as the momentum shifted yet again.

Randy Orton managed to hit his finishing move, the RKO, securing the win. But the move didn’t go off flawlessly, and the botched execution was noticeable to those in attendance and viewers alike. Despite this, the match still delivered a thrilling experience for fans.

According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, both Je’Von Evans and Randy Orton put in significant time rehearsing their spots before the show. There is no backstage criticism or “heat” directed at Evans for the botched RKO, showing that the WWE team understood the high-pressure nature of the situation.

We will have to see if Randy Orton has another match in NXT any time soon. If anything, we know that Je’Von Evans and Orton may meet again once the NXT standout finally receives his main roster call-up.
