Cody Rhodes might be one of the most beloved babyfaces in the company but Kevin Owens certainly had enough of him, as he attacked him after the Bad Blood Premium Live Event.
WWE is getting ready for a tour in Europe, and Cody Rhodes was interviewed by the Manchester Evening News to help promote it. After WWE’s Bad Blood event, fans caught footage of Kevin Owens attacking Cody Rhodes in the parking lot. Rhodes briefly mentioned it on Raw after the event, and he didn’t go into much detail during the interview either.
He said that the video of the attack is online for everyone to see and didn’t want to add much more. Cody explained that WWE is a very competitive place, and everyone is aiming for the WWE Championship, which he currently holds. He hinted that the issue with Owens might continue on SmackDown, Raw, or even during their tour in Europe. But, it might also be handled privately within WWE.
Rhodes said he was really happy with his match at Bad Blood, especially since it was in Atlanta, the city where he grew up. He felt proud of both Atlanta and WWE and thinks the journey to WrestleMania started earlier this year than usual.
”I’d be foolish to try and tell you anything different because the entire video (of Kevin Owens attacking me) exists online and you can see every inch of it. I’ll try and keep my remarks short in terms of how I feel but I will tell you this: It’s a very passionate industry, everybody wants the north star of our business which is the WWE Championship and the championship that I hold at this time. I don’t know if you’ll see this unfold on screens, on SmackDown, on Raw or when we come overseas. Pro wrestling and sports entertainment tends to dive into that. Perhaps it does, or perhaps its dealt internally… I did feel very happy about my match at Bad Blood. I was happy for the city of Atlanta, that being the city that raised me. Everything happened and appeared and I was happy for Atlanta and the WWE because it feels like the road to WrestleMania started early this year.”
WrestleVotes reported that the production team was unaware of the incident, as there were no WWE cameras, lighting, or standard setups, making the situation unusual. It was even suggested that the fan who recorded the altercation might have been placed intentionally to ensure the moment was captured. The secrecy around the event was so strict that only Cody Rhodes, Kevin Owens, and a small group of creative team members were informed, allowing them to keep the plan hidden.
Triple H has already commented on Kevin Owens’ attack on Cody Rhodes, stating, “We are aware of the incident outside of the arena last night between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens. The matter will be dealt with internally.” With this being addressed, fans will have to wait and see how WWE develops their feud in the coming weeks. It’s expected that Owens will provide a proper reason for his actions as the storyline unfolds.
