The New Day started out their faction as heels years ago, but a lot of things have changed since then. As Big E’s absence continued, the stable recently teased accepting Odyssey Jones into the fold before he was suddenly released. Over the last few weeks, Xavier Woods has hinted at a heel turn, and this week’s WWE RAW saw that storyline continue.

The October 7 WWE RAW saw Main Event Jey Uso put his WWE Intercontinental Title on the line against Xavier Woods. The New Day member was very hyped to get that match last week, as he said he knows he can beat Jey Uso. This match was actually supposed to go to Kofi Kingston, but he passed it along to Woods.

WWE RAW opened up this week with CM Punk. Then Seth Rollins came out to cut a short promo, but this was directly followed by Jey Uso making his Yeet-filled entrance to defend his IC Title against Xavier Woods.

Samantha Irvin gave this match a big match feel with her intros, and fans were more than ready to see the match go down. The two got started quickly, with Xavier Woods trying hard to get the upper hand in the early moments. They moved outside the ring, where Woods dumped Uce on the mat at ringside to do just that.

They went to commercial, and Woods controlled the match during that entire break. When they returned to the program, Uce was still taking damage from Woods. Then Uso nailed a Superkick off a dive from the top, and then he hit an Uso Splash of his own to win the match clean.

This was a shorter match, but RAW is only a two-hour show now, a trend that will hopefully continue. In the end, it wasn’t Xavier Woods’ night. He wasn’t happy at all about this, but Jey Uso still helped him to his feet. After dapping up Kofi Kingston, Jey Uso offered his hand to Woods, but Xavier just gave him a cold shoulder and walked off.

Suddenly, Bron Breakker jumped Jey Uso in the ring. Kofi Kingston tried to protect Uce, but he received nothing but punishment. Then Bron Breakker hit Woods with a spear around the ring followed by another to Uce in the middle of the squared circle.
