Reason Behind AEW Dropping Kris Statlander and Stokely Hathaway Partnership

Kris Statlander is undoubtedly one of the veterans of the AEW women’s division and began working with Stokely Hathaway after betraying Willow Nightingale at AEW Double or Nothing. However, that partnership came to an end recently and the reason behind that decision has been revealed.

Kris Statlander’s partnership with Stokely Hathaway had been a big part of AEW shows for a long time now, as it truly fleshed out Statlander’s character in a big way. However, during the October 4th episode of AEW Rampage, Statlander announced that she was going solo and was confronted by Mercedes Mone and Kamille. Before this, Statlander had been out of action for a while following her match against Willow Nightingale at All Out.

As previously reported, the partnership between Statlander and Hathaway officially came to an end, and Statlander is now expected to challenge Mone for the TBS title. After all, she was also involved in an angle with Mercedes Mone during the October 5th episode of AEW Collision, where Kamille took out Kris Statlander.

Naturally, fans were puzzled by AEW’s decision to suddenly drop the partnership between Kris Statlander and Stokely Hathaway. However, according to Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful Select’s Q&A podcast, Kris Statlander and Stokely Hathaway’s on-screen partnership was reportedly dropped because there “wasn’t an option to continue that story.”

As for Stokely Hathaway, he was seen watching Private Party’s match during AEW Dynamite last week. Regardless, we will have to wait and see how AEW will continue to book both Statlander and Hathaway in the coming weeks, as fans do believe they should reunite again in the future.
