Last night at WWE Bad Blood in Atlanta, Georgia, tensions boiled over between wrestling legend Goldberg and World Heavyweight Champion Gunther.

After Gunther made disparaging remarks about Goldberg and his career, things nearly turned physical, with security having to intervene to separate the two. The unexpected confrontation left fans speculating about a potential clash between the Hall of Famer and the current champion.

The altercation began when Gunther, after acknowledging Goldberg’s presence in the crowd, mocked the Hall of Famer by telling him that Bret Hart wasn’t his childhood hero. He went further, insulting Goldberg’s wrestling legacy and taunting his son, Gage, by hoping Goldberg was “a better father than he was a wrestler.” Furious, Goldberg leaped over the barricade and looked ready to throw down with The Ring General, but security quickly stepped in to stop the escalating situation.

On the Gigantic Pop podcast, wrestling veteran Matt Morgan weighed in on the possibility of a match between Goldberg and Gunther, stating that if such a match were to happen, it should be a quick and decisive victory for Gunther. “If it is Goldberg, I love Goldberg but no offense, dude, it’s gotta be like a five-second match and Gunther just annihilates him. It has to be that way if it happens,” Morgan said.

Goldberg last competed in WWE in 2022, where he was defeated by Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber. With Goldberg now being semi-retired and Gunther holding one of WWE’s most prestigious titles, many fans and experts feel that a match between them would need to be carefully considered. For Morgan, a squash match in favor of Gunther would be the only plausible outcome to maintain the champion’s dominance.

After security broke up the Goldberg-Gunther confrontation at Bad Blood, the chaos continued as Sami Zayn took advantage of the distraction, launching a sneak attack on Gunther. Zayn and Gunther brawled before security once again separated the combatants.

Looking ahead, Gunther is set to defend his World Heavyweight Championship against Sami Zayn on Monday Night RAW. Zayn holds the distinction of being the only WWE Superstar to have pinned Gunther since his arrival on the main roster nearly two years ago. Fans are eager to see if Zayn can pull off another upset or if Gunther will retain his title and continue his dominant reign.

The potential for a Goldberg vs. Gunther showdown remains uncertain, but the sparks that flew at Bad Blood have certainly ignited interest. It will be fascinating to see if these two titans cross paths again in the future.
