AEW is currently going through a transition phase with several debuts happening in recent months. The latest name being linked to the company is Shane McMahon, who is rumored to join AEW soon. Speculation suggests he could be involved in a storyline with Jon Moxley, and recent updates have provided clarification on this potential collaboration.

On July 29, 2024, Khan and McMahon met privately at an office near Arlington airport. It was the first time they spoke directly, although Khan had wanted to meet McMahon before. They talked about possible ways they could work together, which has fueled more rumors about what McMahon’s role might be in AEW.

The Young Bucks ended up meeting Shane McMahon last month as well. Jon Moxley’s recent violent behavior on AEW TV has sparked intrigue, especially with his cryptic comments suggesting someone else is in control, saying, “this is not your company anymore.” Given that Moxley, along with PAC, Claudio Castagnoli, and Marina Shafir, all have WWE backgrounds, rumors have circulated that Shane McMahon might eventually be revealed as the mastermind behind the group.

According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, AEW backstage sources have denied that this is the intended direction, stating Shane McMahon is not part of the storyline and that is not the ‘destination’.
