CM Punk’s arrival in AEW was met with tremendous enthusiasm, signaling a promising new phase in his storied career. However, CM Punk’s run ended in the worst way possible and now an AEW star has admitted he suggested a move that led to Punk getting injured at All Out 2022.
In 2021, CM Punk’s debut in AEW was groundbreaking event, establishing him as a major figure within the promotion. He reached the pinnacle of his AEW career by winning the AEW World Championship at Double or Nothing 2022. However, his reign was marred by injuries, including a torn triceps sustained during the controversial AEW All Out 2022 event.
While speaking to Gabby LaSpisa of the Gabby AF podcast for a new interview, QT Marshall revealed that he gave CM Punk an idea for how to start his All Out 2022 match against Jon Moxley. Punk used the suggestion and ended up tearing his triceps during a dive. Marshall said he felt bad about it, especially since the injury led to Punk’s controversial press conference afterward. He regretted that the injury happened after Punk followed his advice.
“I felt bad because his match with Jon Moxley where he tore his triceps and then he did the infamous interview afterwards, the presser, we were talking about how to start the match and I told him, ‘Oh, if it were me, this is what I would do’ and he did it and that’s where he tore his triceps so like, I felt bad, after we spoke about it.”
CM Punk also believed he was done with wrestling after his AEW firing. Nevertheless, everyone has clearly moved on from the situation but QT Marshall will always regret giving Punk that unfortunate suggestion in 2022.
