WWE’s 2024 SummerSlam event was memorable for a lot of reasons and that includes Jelly Roll’s appearance, who ended up doing more than anyone could have imagined. With that said, it appears the original plans for Jelly Roll’s spot during the show have been revealed.

Jelly Roll entertained the audience with his performances of “America The Beautiful” and “Liar.” Later in the event, he made a memorable appearance by delivering a five-knuckle shuffle and a chokeslam to Austin Theory, adding to the night’s excitement.

While speaking on the Battleground podcast, Austin Theory talked about what was originally planned for his segment with Jelly Roll at SummerSlam 2024, where Roll performed a chokeslam on him. He mentioned that there were some ideas about using a chokeslam or other moves, but he thought they were going to do a scoop slam at first.

Theory remembered being in the ring and asking Triple H to trust him. He suggested that Jelly Roll give him a chokeslam, promising Triple H that he would make it look great by just raising his arm. When they did the move, it turned out to be a hit and got a lot of attention online.

Theory pointed out how important it is to understand the purpose of what you’re doing in wrestling. He always thinks about how his actions help the company and fit his role. He expressed that he is fully committed to every opportunity and never feels let down. Being in WWE is a dream come true for him, and he wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. No matter who he’s working with, whether it’s The Rock or Jelly Roll, he is all in.

“Speaking on the Jelly Roll situation, it wasn’t going to be a choke slam. I heard little ideas of, ‘Hey, maybe a choke slam,’ or this, but I think a scoop slam was actually going to be what it was. I remember being in the ring with everybody and going to Triple H and saying, ‘Hey, just trust me on this. Let him give me a choke slam; I’ll make it look amazing. All he has to do is put his arm up.’

Sure enough, we went out there, and it looked amazing. It trended like crazy; it was all over the place. But it’s just about understanding what you need to do that night. I always think about why I’m doing something and whether it’s going to help. Is this what we’re trying to do for the company right now in the position you’re putting me in?

I’m all in; I’m never like, ‘Ah’ or disappointed about stuff like that. I have a huge opportunity. I got a moment. It’s the WWE; it’s the place I’ve wanted to be my entire life. There’s not one other place I’d ever go. This is it, so I’m locked in. Whatever the opportunity is, or the moment, or whoever the guy is, it doesn’t matter if it’s The Rock or Jelly Roll. I’m all in.”

We have also reported that WWE was very happy with Jelly Roll’s appearance at SummerSlam and that Jelly Roll has unfinished business in WWE, so we’ll have to see when the singer will make his appearance on WWE television next, as it became clear he is a big draw for the company.
