Nia Jax has been a dominant force since her return to WWE in 2023, and she’s now opened up about how her time away from the company helped her reset and reignite her passion for wrestling.
After being released from WWE in November 2021, Jax took a step back from the spotlight before making a surprise comeback at the 2023 Women’s Royal Rumble and later returning full-time in September. Since then, Jax has won the Queen of the Ring and captured the WWE Women’s Championship.
In an interview with Cathy Kelley for WWE, Jax reflected on how her release ended up being a blessing in disguise, allowing her to rediscover her love for the sport.
“It was probably the best thing that ever happened to me,” Jax admitted. “At first, yes, it was difficult to sit there and realize that I won’t be out there entertaining everybody, on the road and enjoying the travels. It actually helped restore my passion and love for wrestling. I felt like I was starting to lose a little bit of the ‘why?'”
Jax went on to explain how the time off helped her reset and come back stronger than ever. “I tell people all the time it was one of the best things that happened to me. I felt like I reset Nia Jax. Now, I’m the best Nia Jax ever. I’m only getting better. I needed to take that little bit of time off and find myself again,” she added.
As she gears up to defend her WWE Women’s Championship at WWE Bad Blood, it’s clear that this time away has helped her rediscover her “why” and brought her back to the ring at her absolute best. Fans are eager to see what the future holds for this rejuvenated version of Nia Jax as she continues to dominate the women’s division.
