Eric Young isn’t just thinking about his next match – he’s thinking about when it’ll be his last.

During an recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, the 44-year-old veteran opened up about his retirement plans, shedding light on how much time he believes he has left in the ring. Spoiler alert: the clock is ticking.

Young, who’s carved out an incredible career across promotions like TNA/IMPACT Wrestling and WWE, made it clear that he has no intention of overstaying his welcome. “I don’t want to be the guy who’s just taking up space,” Young said. “That’s not fair to the talent coming up.”

Despite being in his mid-40s, Young believes he’s got another solid four or five years left to offer the wrestling world before he hangs up his boots for good. “I’m 44 now, and I’ll be 45 in December,” he said. “But I don’t think my wrestling is much different than it was 15 years ago.” Still, he knows that eventually, age catches up with everyone, and when he feels he can’t keep up with the new crop of talent, that’s when he’ll call it quits.
