AEW’s Shockwave Was Never Meant to Be in WBD Deal

With the new Warner Bros. Discovery deal officially announced, fans are buzzing about the future of AEW programming. However, one rumored show was notably absent from the October 2 media rights deal: AEW Shockwave.

According to Dave Meltzer on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, the reason AEW Shockwave was not included in the deal is that it was always intended to be handled separately from the WBD negotiations. Meltzer clarified, “Shockwave was always going to be shopped separate. That was the nature of the whole thing, it was never going to be part of this deal.”

While the WBD deal secures Dynamite and Collision on TBS and TNT, with programming set to stream live on Max starting in January 2025, Shockwave remains in limbo. Meltzer noted that securing a deal for Shockwave is not guaranteed, stating, “They may not get a deal for Shockwave, it’s not like this thing is a lock. It was never part of these negotiations.”

The rumored AEW Shockwave is reportedly being shopped to Fox, but there has been no official announcement yet regarding its potential television debut. Fans will have to wait and see if the new show will be added to AEW’s expanding lineup in the future.
