The feud between Bronson Reed and Braun Strowman turned chaotic, featuring plenty of destruction in their recent encounters. This culminated in a major match on RAW this week, filled with mayhem. Following the spot where the ring collapsed, WWE’s backstage reaction to the same has been revealed.
During the September 30 WWE RAW event in Evansville, Indiana, Braun Strowman faced Bronson Reed in a highly anticipated Last Monster Standing match. The match was full of chaos from beginning to end, even causing the ring to break.
In the final moments, Seth Rollins made a surprising return to WWE television and delivered a powerful curb stomp on Reed and this helped Strowman win the intense match.
At one point during the match, Bronson performed a suplex on Strowman from the top rope, causing the ring to collapse. The visual was epic, leaving fans in attendance in complete shock.
In a recent Q&A on Sportskeeda WrestleBinge with Joe Lowry, WrestleVotes talked about the ring-breaking spot. They noted that while they appreciated the performances of both wrestlers and praised the match overall, the spot of the ring breaking didn’t have the same impact as in the past. Many fans had anticipated it, which may have affected its shock value. A source present at the event described the internal reaction as one of disappointment as well.
“They didn’t like the way it came off. They loved the performance of both those guys. The match itself was well-praised, I mean the crowd was electric. I just think the actual spot of the ring breaking didn’t have the impact that it has had in the past. A lot of people expected it, so… I did have a source who was there last night. The internal reaction instantly was, ‘Oof.'”
We have also reported that Braun Strowman sustained an injury during the match. With that said, WWE may limit such explosive spots in the future as the ring-collapsing spot clearly didn’t meet their expectations.
