AEW Dynamite is about to celebrate their five-year anniversary on October 2. They have a big show planned in Pittsburgh, even though the World Title match has been dragged for having a strange stipulation. WWE has been paying attention to AEW since day one, and now we know the story.

Jeff Jarrett is currently a member of the All Elite Wrestling roster as AEW Dynamite marks its 5th Anniversary this Wednesday night on TBS. However, he was with WWE just a few years ago. In fact, he remembers a historic day in AEW history that he was in WWE to witness first hand.

Five years ago, Jarrett was a WWE employee watching the premiere episode of AEW Dynamite from the old Titan Towers alongside his co-workers. He spoke about this during the latest episode of his My World podcast. Jarrett shared his first impressions of AEW and the surreal experience of witnessing WWE executives encounter their new competition for the first time.

The inaugural episode of AEW Dynamite aired on Wednesday, October 2, 2019, at the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. Meanwhile, WWE held a late-night creative meeting at its headquarters. Jarrett recalled that they took a break to see what Tony Khan’s company was offering fans, and the first thing that struck him was how fresh the product felt.

“The freshness… it brought back so many memories since a non-WWE program had been on cable television in prime time.”

Jeff Jarrett’s impressions of AEW’s first prime-time broadcast brought him back to the early days of TNA Wrestling on Spike TV in the mid-2000s. He noted that he had previously worked with many individuals in AEW, including Cody Rhodes and Keith Mitchell, as well as various production team members.

While drawing parallels to significant moments in wrestling history, Jeff Jarrett likened the excitement surrounding AEW’s debut to the launch of WCW Nitro, which competed directly against WWE’s Monday Night Raw. We all know that famous Mall of America debut well, complete with a surprise Lex Luger WCW debut. “You knew from day one that man, this thing’s got some juice behind it,” Double J remarked.

We will have to see what AEW is offering fans in five years from now. We’ll have to see if a story comes out in a few years about WWE watching AEW Dynamite’s 5-year anniversary show, but we will certainly have coverage here at Ringside News.

AEW is set to have their 5-Year Anniversary of Dynamite on October 2 in Pittsburgh. Seats for that show are still available on Ticketmaster.
