Penta El Zero Miedo Confirms AEW Status Amid Contract Speculation

Penta El Zero Miedo, one-half of the iconic Lucha Bros tag team, has cleared the air regarding his status with AEW amid ongoing rumors about his future in wrestling.

Speaking to Mas Lucha, Penta confirmed that he remains under contract with AEW, despite speculation linking him and his brother Rey Fenix to a potential move to WWE.

Penta addressed the situation with clarity, explaining that while AEW remains his present focus, he is leaving contract negotiations and future plans to his legal team.

“It’s like I was saying, everyone defends their interests. Tony [Khan] is defending his interests and we are defending our own. I am still under contract with AEW, that is my present,” Penta stated.

Penta emphasized that his priority is continuing to perform for AEW fans and focusing on his role in the ring, leaving contract matters to be handled by his representatives.

The latest rumors regarding Penta and Fenix’s contracts have been circulating for some time. According to earlier reports, WWE had expressed interest in bringing the Lucha Bros to the company as a package deal, particularly aiming for a main roster debut. However, while AEW had offered the duo a new contract over the summer, neither Penta nor Fenix signed the deals, although there were no clear indications from the brothers about their plans to leave AEW.

Interestingly, it was reported that AEW added time to Penta’s contract due to injury-related absences, a common practice within AEW and WWE. Fenix, who has missed substantial time due to injuries in recent years, reportedly has more time left on his contract. Despite the extensions, Penta and Fenix remain under contract with AEW and continue to be paid, even though Penta hasn’t wrestled on AEW television since the July 19th episode of AEW Rampage.

Penta has kept active by competing in Mexico during his absence from AEW TV, but his long-term future remains uncertain. While rumors persist about a potential move to WWE, Penta made it clear that, for now, his focus remains with AEW. “My present in AEW, I’m still firm with them, and quite frankly, I don’t know what will happen in the future,” he added.

As of now, neither Penta nor Fenix have signed with WWE, and there has been no official acknowledgment from WWE regarding the rumors. The situation remains fluid, but fans will be eagerly watching to see what the future holds for the Lucha Bros.
