Britt Baker spent nine months on the shelf before returning at Forbidden Door 2024. That was a long-awaited comeback, but the women’s division had certainly changed a lot since she had to take her sabbatical. Fans were waiting on her as well, and rumors came with it.

Being one of the top women in AEW, Britt Baker’s life is under a microscope. Her breakup with Adam Cole brought headlines, and rumors were swirling around that situation. Plenty of people chimed in to provide commentary on the matter, and that’s not all they were talking about.

There were also tales of backstage heat in AEW, stemming from a legit suspension after a backstage blowup with MJF. They worked her time off into the storyline with Mercedes Mone, but she eventually lost that TBS Title match at All In 2024.

While speaking to Sean Ross Sapp, Britt Baker addressed people who take rumors about her and run with them. Britt admitted that she could spend her entire day on social media, but she avoids it at this point unless she’s promoting a Steelers game.

“As much as it hurts…I think what hurts me the most is when people run with rumors or concepts or ideas that are not true. If I sat here all day and fought off or batted down everything I’ve heard about myself that wasn’t true, I would spend my entire day on social media. I don’t do that, and I delete the app unless I have something to promote or it’s a Steelers game, and I get to talk sh*t to Bengals fans. That’s actually more frustrating than any of the criticism. I would like to say that, for most genuine wrestling fans, criticism comes from a good place. Just because they might not be able to communicate that properly or respectfully, that’s one thing, but just running with a rumor, people build whole podcasts around a one sentence rumor they’ve heard about me that’s not real.”

Britt Baker was the first female talent signed to AEW other than Brandi Rhodes, so she’s been in the AEW fan base’s eye for a while at this point. She continued to provide her own insight on how she deals with the constant onslaught of criticism.

“You can’t have control of the narrative that people are going to say about you. They’re going to hear something and if it doesn’t fit their narrative of what they want it to be, they’re going to twist it and turn it so it does anyway. I’m at the point of my career where I’m happy. I know what goes on and what doesn’t.”

Britt Baker has done enough in AEW to earn fans’ respect, but that is also a tough task at times. She has obviously become very adapt at avoiding those cutting words, as she continues with AEW with blinders on to the best of her ability.

AEW is set to have their 5-Year Anniversary of Dynamite on October 2 in Pittsburgh. Naturally, Britt Baker will be on hand. Seats for that show are still available on Ticketmaster.
