Titus O’Neil Acknowledges Vince McMahon’s Controversies but Remains Grateful

Netflix’s much-anticipated six-part docuseries on Vince McMahon’s life and career finally hit the streaming service on September 25. Initially announced in October 2020, the series underwent significant changes in light of numerous allegations against McMahon, including claims of hush money payments, sexual misconduct, sexual assault, and sex trafficking. These allegations were addressed in the final episode of the docuseries, painting a complex picture of McMahon’s legacy.

WWE superstar and global ambassador Titus O’Neil, who has been with the company since 2009, shared his thoughts on the series and the allegations during an interview with US Weekly. O’Neil emphasized the indelible mark Vince McMahon has left on professional wrestling, while also acknowledging the troubling accusations.

“At the end of the day, what he built cannot be erased. It’s sad that the situation came to what it came to, but I don’t have any bad words for Vince. It’s very interesting to hear different perspectives on things, but at the end of the day, I’ll forever be grateful for what Vince McMahon built, the platform that he built for so many people. He’s human, just like anyone else,” O’Neil said.

While O’Neil admitted he doesn’t condone some of the actions alleged against McMahon, he remained focused on the positive impact McMahon had on his life.

“My life was changed because I had an opportunity to become a WWE superstar. So many people’s lives were changed because they had an opportunity to work for that company,” he added.

Despite their occasional differences of opinion, O’Neil expressed his gratitude for the opportunities provided by WWE, noting how they enabled him to provide a better life for his family and community.

Interestingly, O’Neil’s own history with McMahon includes a suspension in 2016 for “unprofessional conduct” after he attempted to shake McMahon’s hand in jest as WWE Raw went off the air. Despite that incident, O’Neil remains appreciative of the role WWE has played in his life and career.

The Vince McMahon docuseries continues to generate conversation across the wrestling world, and O’Neil’s nuanced perspective offers a glimpse into how some within WWE view McMahon’s controversial legacy.
