The pro wrestling world is always in a state of shifting to the next phrase. WWE’s new television deals are certainly getting a lot of attention, especially since FOX seems to be wide open for a new pro wrestling show after SmackDown exited for the USA Network.

After WWE left FOX, Swerve Stickland let something slip that he shouldn’t have. He remarked that AEW is going to “take” FOX now, and that was not intentional.

In a conversation with music artist and influencer QueenzFlip, Strickland talked about AEW’s presence on major networks like TNT and TBS. He also mentioned that AEW might be moving to FOX, while making it very clear that AEW is going to take the network that WWE just left.

“It’s a movie. We’re about to move. We’re about to get on Fox. SmackDown is leaving Fox. We’re taking Fox. TNT, TBS, and Fox—we got all three of them things. Tony Khan lets me do whatever the f*** I want. He owns the Jacksonville Jaguars.”

During his Backstage Report podcast, Sean Ross Sapp noted that Swerve Strickland wishes that he could take that comment back. In fact, he didn’t even know a phone was around to document that interaction.

“He wishes he could take it back. It was not intentionally leaked. I was told he did not know a phone was in the vicinity. You could tell, it was more ominously filmed.”

In case you’re wondering, the ongoing television talks between AEW and Warner Bros Discovery could also see those pay-per-views on MAX. After all, BR Live just sent out a notice to all subscribers who had purchased an AEW event in the past.

Only time will tell what direction they go, because there are a lot of possibilities at play. At this time, while the deal isn’t closed and their exclusive rights window has expired, talks are still amicable.
