Rey Mysterio is the Greatest Mask of All Time, a status that he earned after decades of work in the ring. He has been unmasked before, and spotted in public without his face covered, but the WWE Hall of Famer lost his mask this week in a controversial match.

The September 30 WWE RAW, Xavier Woods and Rey Mysterio had a singles match. This contest went on to further Woods’ ongoing storyline, where he is showing a bit of frustration and heel characteristics.

During the finish of the match, Rey Mysterio managed to escape a hold from Woods and hit him with a hurricanrana, which sent Woods crashing into the ropes. Rey set up for a 619, but Woods dodged it just in time. Seizing the opportunity, Woods pulled off Rey’s mask and rolled him up for the win. This was quite a shocking moment, and Woods seemed very surprise to pull off the win in this way as well.

After the match was over, Kofi Kingston made it clear that it wasn’t kosher that Woods won like he did, but they quickly moved past it. Woods just wanted to brag about beating a WWE Hall of Famer like Mysterio.

This was followed by Kofi Kingston saying that Jey Uso offered him an IC Title match next week, but he turned it down. Instead, Woods is getting the match. Xavier was very happy about that, because he believes he can beat Jey Uso.

Xavier Woods is inching toward a heel turn, and that could be a big deal. He will also face Jey Uso for the IC Title during the October 7 WWE RAW. Only time will tell what’s next for him.

Is it still shocking to see Rey Mysterio without his mask on? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.
