Vince McMahon, at 77 years old, announced his retirement for the first time following hush-money allegations back in 2022. The announcement was delivered through a rare tweet and sent shockwaves through the wrestling world and now the WWE locker room’s reaction to his retirement has been revealed.
While speaking on Busted Open Radio, former WWE personality Matt Camp shared that many within WWE reacted positively to McMahon’s exit, though his eventual return wasn’t unexpected.
Camp explained that when McMahon initially retired, there was a sense of relief among many in WWE. However, when McMahon made his comeback, few were surprised. According to Camp, McMahon’s departure was always linked to financial factors, noting that once money was on the line again, he predicted McMahon would step away.
“I will tell you, when he retired the first time, everybody was happy. I shouldn’t say everybody, but a lot of us were happy. And then he came back, and there was not a surprise. I remember the second time, at the beginning of this year, in January, when all that stuff came out again, I said as soon as the money gets pulled, then he will be gone again.”
Vince McMahon returned briefly to oversee WWE’s sale last year. However, he eventually left again following a lawsuit from former employee Janel Grant, marking his second exit from the company. Considering McMahon’s Netflix documentary released last week and has already shown his disturbing thought process, fans believe McMahon may never return to pro wrestling again.
