The pro wrestling world is supposed to be a safe space for everyone involved, even though there are natural risks involved with getting into the ring. Now, a man who was responsible for an entire company has been outed as an offender.

On September 28, Blk Girlz Wrestle advertised its “The Blk Out” event, featuring Maya World, Jada Stone, Kaylia Capri, Alexis Littlefoot, Cassandra Golden, and others. Fans attended the event, but no event took place. This was followed by the promoter blocking talent on social media and ignoring fans.

According to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, the owner, Bryan Datrell Tanner, is currently in jail and has been charged with sexual assault involving a victim aged 16 or 17. He is also a registered sex offender.

“Even more sinister details have emerged about the BLK Girlz Wrestle owner.

The owner, Bryan Datrell Tanner, who used a stage name, appears to be in jail.”

He was once charged with sexual assault by a person 24 or older on a victim age 16 or 17. He’s a registered sex offender”

Tanner faces currently charges for “WITHHOLD SUPPORT: NON SUPPORT OF CHILDREN OR SPOUSE,” despite claiming to be a “girl dad” of three. He was booked on September 19, and it appears that he is still incarcerated.

The pro wrestling world has spoken out about this, as a topic on Reddit’s Squared Circle provided even more details. BLK Girlz Wrestle aimed to promote black female indie wrestlers. The promoter claimed to have created the company to build a brand for his three daughters. However, the event turned out to be a scam: the promoter sold tickets, had talent save the date, and then blocked several wrestlers a month prior without further communication.

Refunds were not issued, and attendees arrived to find no event taking place. Maya World, one of the wrestlers announced for the event, tweeted, “no words. he’s in jail rn so that explains that. and well deserved too.”
