Kota Ibushi Teases AEW Return with Kenny Omega Amidst Absence

Kenny Omega has been on the shelf for almost a year due to diverticulitis, which required emergency surgery. This health issue made him step away from wrestling and pause his plans. However, Kota Ibushi has recently hinted that both he and Omega will be returning to AEW soon.

Kenny Omega returned to television for the first time since December on the May 1 episode of AEW Dynamite, where he provided updates on his recovery. Unfortunately, his return was brief as he was attacked by The Elite, including The Young Bucks, Jack Perry, and Kazuchika Okada, forcing him to leave the show quickly.

Following this, Omega’s close friend and longtime tag team partner, Kota Ibushi, revealed that Omega has begun training at his facility in Japan. Omega has also been engaging in intense boxing training.

Kota Ibushi took to his Instagram and hinted that his and Kenny Omega’s return to AEW is approaching soon. He shared that their last practice session is done, acknowledging that although they haven’t spent much time together recently, they are now pushing hard for their next steps.

Ibushi mentioned that he’s fully prepared for AEW and still has plenty of time to fulfill his promises. He noted how much the landscape has changed but emphasized that the time for action has arrived, with both he and Omega feeling highly motivated. He also expressed appreciation for the flexibility of his AEW contract, which allows him to manage commitments while in Japan, ensuring he’s in a good place professionally.

Tuned up for AEW which will be soon. I still have a long time to fulfill my promises! The scenery sure has changed❗ All that’s left is to do! We’re both on fire!! ️Thank you for your flexible contract even though you belong.

In the meantime, Kenny Omega is also set to appear at NJPW Wrestle Dynasty next year. Regardless, we will have to wait and see if Omega and Ibushi will return together this year, as fans would love to see their AEW return in 2024.
