MJF made a shocking return at Double or Nothing in May, and since then, he became a champion and engaged in solid feuds with the likes of Will Ospreay and Daniel Garcia. There’s no doubt that his mic skills set him apart from the rest but JBL has now addressed being MJF’s manager as well.
Earlier this year, JBL talked about his interaction with The Salt of the Earth in the past and made it clear that he was absolutely blown away by the former AEW World Champion.
While speaking during a Q&A with Gerald Brisco for Sportskeeda Wrestling, JBL addressed the idea of managing MJF and praised the former AEW World Champion. While he expressed uncertainty about working with MJF in AEW, he noted that MJF seems poised to become a movie star with his role in Happy Gilmore 2.
JBL shared that he is a big fan of MJF, recalling a time when they met in England and spent part of the day together after a signing. He described MJF as a smart and talented individual, emphasizing his dedication to the business, as shown by his impressive physical condition.
JBL compared MJF’s transformation to Randy Orton’s, pointing out how getting in shape can enhance a wrestler’s character. Although JBL is unsure about a potential collaboration, he acknowledged MJF’s exciting opportunities in both wrestling and film, jokingly expressing concern about MJF calling him out in the ring.
”I don’t know. It’s a great question (would I work with MJF in AEW as a manager). I’m a big fan of MJF. I’ve told this story a few times. I met him in England one time and got to ride to the airport with him and spent part of the day with him because we both had a signing and a big fan of his. He’s a really smart guy, he’s a sharp guy. I think he’s a great talent and one thing I love about guys is you look at how kind of shape they get in. So look at Randy Orton right now, he’s changed his character by getting into incredible shape. MJF is in incredible shape right now. It tells me he has a real passion for the business and a real love for the business so, yeah. No idea about working with him or anything like that. He’s in AEW. It sounds like he’s about to be a movie star now again. He just got a role in Happy Gilmore or something. Hopefully, he doesn’t call me out too. I’d be a little more worried about him than I would be Paul Walter Hauser.”
While it may seem unlikely JBL will ever manage MJF, anything is possible in the world of professional wrestling. Therefore, we will have to wait and see if it will ever happen somewhere down the line.
