WWE Hall of Famer JBL has been making appearances at various independent wrestling events, marking an unexpected return outside of WWE. Recently, he addressed his contractual status with the company as well.
In the past few weeks, JBL has been making headlines by appearing at several high-profile events. He first made an appearance alongside Nic Nemeth at AAA’s Triplemania event, followed by a shocking return at GCW’s Homecoming event and then on Ohio Valley Wrestling, before returning to TNA again.
It was reported that promotions booking JBL for these appearances did not need approval from WWE. While speaking during a Q&A session on Sportskeeda Wrestling, JBL addressed his contract status, stating that he has never shared details about it. He mentioned that WWE has a confidentiality clause and believes it’s not good business to discuss contracts.
JBL also pointed out that regardless of whether he is under contract, the online speculation about him is inaccurate. He acknowledged that he has seen various rumors circulating about him on the internet, asserting that they are completely wrong. He maintained that he won’t confirm or deny his contract status, as WWE’s confidentiality policy prevents him from discussing such matters. JBL expressed his refusal to engage with the speculation while emphasizing that it is incorrect.
”I’m gonna answer this as politically correct — not politically correct — as correct for me as possible. I’ve never answered a question about my contract and I can tell you 100 percent for this, I’ve seen speculation about me on the internet. It’s all wrong. 100 percent wrong. I’m not gonna answer whether I am or not because WWE has always had a confidentiality clause in it and I’ve never thought it was good business to discuss my contract or anybody else’s and so, I’m sorry but I refuse to answer but I will say that the speculation about me has been wrong.”
For the record, JBL is reportedly under a Legends deal with the company. Regardless, JBL will continue to make appearances in other promotions whenever he wants to, and that’s unlikely to change anytime soon.
