AEW and NJPW have gained significant momentum through their ongoing collaboration, with CMLL now playing an increasingly prominent role in their partnership. Toni Storm knows about collaborations all too well, and it appears Toni Storm will make her CMLL debut next month as well.
CMLL’s 9/27/2024 “Noche de Campeones” event featured seven title matches, but the highlight of the night came with the announcement of a major match for next week. In honor of the Month of Amazonas, a celebration of CMLL’s Women’s Division, it was revealed that 2023 CMLL Women’s Universal Champion La Catalina will face an international superstar.
In an exciting twist, former NXT UK Women’s Champion and three-time AEW Women’s World Champion, “Timeless” Toni Storm, will be Catalina’s opponent as CMLL made the announcement on Twitter.
”⌛️🌎 📽️ Timeless! Toni Storm será la rival de La Catalina, La Campeona Universal del #CMLL 2023, en duelo mano a mano el próximo 11 de Octubre en la Arena México como parte del mes de las Amazonas. #AEW Translated from Spanish by ⌛️🌎 📽️ Timeless! Toni Storm will be the rival of La Catalina, the Universal Champion of #CMLL 2023, in a one-on-one duel on October 11 at the Arena México as part of the month of the Amazons. #AEW”
Despite both having stints in WWE, this will be the first singles match between the Chilean La Catalina and the New Zealand-born Storm. It will also mark Storm’s CMLL debut and her first-ever match in Mexico, setting the stage for a highly anticipated matchup.
We will have to wait and see how Toni Storm will fare against the highly talented Catalina, as it is clear fans are incredibly hyped for this match already for very good reason.
