Kenny Omega has been sidelined for nearly a year due to diverticulitis, which required emergency surgery. This health challenge has forced him to take a break from wrestling and put his plans on hold. During this time, however, he had an unexpected moment when the legendary composer Nobuo Uematsu performed a wrestling move on him.

Kenny Omega returned to television for the first time since December on the May 1 episode of AEW Dynamite, where he provided updates on his recovery. Unfortunately, his return was brief as he was attacked by The Elite, including The Young Bucks, Jack Perry, and Kazuchika Okada, forcing him to leave the show quickly.

Following this, Omega’s close friend and longtime tag team partner, Kota Ibushi, revealed that Omega has begun training at his facility in Japan. Omega has also been engaging in intense boxing training.

The Best Bout Machine took to Twitter and commented on a couple of photos of himself with Nobuo Uematsu, the renowned composer from Final Fantasy. Omega revealed that after his major surgery, the first wrestling move he experienced was a cobra twist performed by Uematsu himself. He expressed surprise at how effective Uematsu’s technique was, noting that there was no way to escape it. To avoid jeopardizing his career, Omega jokingly admitted that he had to tap out.

”I never imagined that the first wrestling move I received after my major surgery was the legendary Uematsu’s Cobra Twist! His technique was perfect and there was no escaping it. I had no choice but to give up in order to avoid ending my career! 😅”

In the meantime, Kenny Omega is also set to appear at NJPW Wrestle Dynasty next year. Regardless, it is good to see that Omega is getting healthier and fans hope to see him compete inside the squared circle soon enough.
