AEW has a loaded locker room, and it seems that Tony Khan isn’t finished bringing in talent. Although some of them are out of action due to a variety of reasons, one former TNT Champion is inching closer to his return.

Sean Ross Sapp reported on Fightful Select that Powerhouse Hobbs has been cleared to return to the ring after being out of action since the end of April due to a knee injury sustained during a match against Jon Moxley. He underwent surgery to repair the injury.

Fightful Select also noted that Hobbs has been spotted backstage at recent AEW tapings. He has gone through extensive in-ring testing as part of the standard clearance process in AEW. Currently, he is awaiting creative plans for his return.

At the time when Powerhouse Hobbs was sidelined, he was involved with Don Callis. During his absence, Hobbs has also fired back at a fan who chastised him for being fragile.

It will be interesting to see how Tony Khan reintegrates Hobbs into the company’s creative direction. Khan recently spoke on Hobbs’ possible return. He might start with a minor role as he gets reacquainted, but there’s also the possibility of being thrust back into a prominent storyline.

As of this writing, Powerhouse Hobbs’ last match took place during the April 24 AEW Dynamite, where he faced Jon Moxley for the IWGP World Heavyweight Title. The match ended with Moxley defeating Hobbs by referee’s decision, which wrote him off television.

Powerhouse Hobbs has significant potential, and AEW has historically paired him with individuals who can help him develop both in and out of the ring. For now, the future looks bright, but he must first make a return to television. We will have all the updates you need in our Powerhouse Hobbs news hub.
