CM Punk is no stranger to controversy, and he certainly doesn’t care if people dislike him. Having capitalized on the drama surrounding his career, he’s fully prepared to stir things up in NXT on October 1. This news isn’t exactly music to Ethan Page’s ears, in fact, Page has publicly declared his animosity toward the Second City Saint in a big way.
Triple H recently dropped a video on social media where CM Punk brought his dog, Larry, backstage. Punk’s K-9 companion received a warm welcome, but this wasn’t shared by everyone who saw the video.
Ethan Page saw that feel-good video of CM Punk, Larry, Triple H and Bianca Belair. He didn’t see it as heart-warming as so many others, as he stated that he now hates CM Punk more than he hates Trick Williams.
The referee for the biggest match of my career is one of those … “I’m a parent too … I have a dog” I officially hate Punk more than Trick.
At the CW’s debut show for NXT in Chicago, Ethan Page will defend his NXT Championship against Trick Williams, with CM Punk serving as the special guest referee. Punk has already promised that this will be a fair fight. Despite Punk’s assurance that he will call the match fairly, Page’s resentment toward him isn’t changing.
Ethan Page was placed right on top of the NXT roster upon his arrival on the brand. He had a stay in AEW, but that didn’t amount to much. Now, he is the top dog on the black and gold brand, and he doesn’t appreciate Larry stealing any spotlight that could go to him.
You can check out Ethan Page’s tweet below. We will have to see how he fares against Trick Williams in Chicago’s Allstate Arena on October 1. Tickets to the show are a hot item in the Windy City, but some are still available on Ticketmaster.
