Shotzi Blackheart suffered a serious injury during a February NXT TV taping, leading to changes in the planned events. After her injury, she had surgery and has begun her rehabilitation. In the meantime, there are plans for an “American Psycho” gimmick for her in WWE.

During the mentioned WWE NXT taping, Shotzi suffered a knee injury while trying to perform her apron DDT. This injury made it difficult for her to put weight on her knee and caused her significant pain. Shotzi has already confirmed that she suffered an ACL tear and underwent surgery for the injury, for which she would be on the shelf for nine months.

Mideon’s various characters in WWE might not be known for being very deep or complex, but figures like Naked Mideon, who came to the ring in just a fanny pack, and Phineas I. Godwinn have made their mark in WWE history. Despite the mixed reviews, the person behind these characters has a creative side.

While speaking on the Six Feet Under podcast with The Undertaker, Mideon mentioned that some wrestlers have asked him for help with their gimmicks. Right now, he’s creating an “American Psycho”-inspired character for injured WWE Superstar Shotzi. Mideon wants Shotzi to reflect her love for horror films, imagining her as a roller derby character influenced by the “American Psycho” theme.

The idea is that Shotzi watches a women’s wrestling group on one TV while another screen shows a scene from Texas Chainsaw Massacre, which drives her a bit crazy. This character could use horror movie elements, similar to past WWE moments, like when the Wyatt Sicks charged through the backstage area. Mideon even thought about visuals like having Shotzi’s opponent tied to a chair made of bones while she reads strange poetry, mixing horror with wrestling to create an interesting story.

“I was asked by a couple of people to ‘help them out’ on their returns, ideas for stories. So I really kind of got this ‘American Psycho’ thing working for Shotzi, who I love. I see her as a roller derby…did she not fit the roller derby thing? Although I’ve kind of went in an ‘American Psycho’ thing, where she’s kind of been sitting at home, and see the video of her, and there’s two TVs, there’s a TV in front of her, and she’s watching the current women’s stable wrestle, and there’s a TV next to her with the ending of ‘Texas Chainsaw’, where all you hear is chainsaws, so she goes kind of insane a little bit. Then she’s just obsessed with horror movies, which she already is, and then we kind of influence that, and we can even use certain famous tropes or scenes from horror movies as set-ups, like when the Wyatt Sicks dusted through Gorilla and left everybody down. You can do smaller versions of that with her. Tied to a chair made of human bones, have her opponent tied to a chair and have her reciting crazy poetry.”

Shotzi also underwent stem cell therapy during her absence. It remains to be seen whenever she will be able to return to in-ring action at the end of the year as an ”American Psycho” gimmick will certainly be an interesting idea for her comeback as well.
