WWE SmackDown Results (9/27/2024):

The show opens up with Michael Cole and Corey Graves welcoming us. “The Viper” Randy Orton’s music then hits and Orton makes his way down to the ring to address the WWE Universe.

Randy Orton starts off by saying it’s been a minute since he has been on SmackDown, but he has missed it and he welcomes the fans to the show. Orton then says he can count the amount of people he can trust on one hand after being in the wrestling business for so long and one such name includes Cody Rhodes. Orton then calls Rhodes down to the ring and demands an explanation as to why he is tagging with Roman Reigns at Bad Blood to take on The Bloodline. Cody Rhodes’ music then hits and Rhodes makes his way down to the ring. Rhodes starts off by asking Oklahoma City and Randy Orton what they want to talk about, then says he knows what Orton wants to discuss. Rhodes says he understands why Orton wants an explanation with everything Reigns put him through as The Tribal Chief and perhaps he looks foolish for teaming with Reigns. Rhodes then says he is planning on taking Reigns on his word after he gave it to him. Rhodes then says he hopes Orton understands his thinking and understands why he needs to end The Bloodline once and for all, then tells him that he hopes it isn’t a problem and offers him his hand. Orton then shakes Rhodes’ hand and tells him that it’s not a problem unless he makes it one.

Kevin Owens’ music then hits and he makes his way down to the ring. Before Owens can speak, Solo Sikoa’s music hits and he makes his way out with the rest of The Bloodline. Sikoa starts off by saying he’s happy that Rhodes, Orton and Owens are all in the ring as it saves him some trouble. Sikoa then demands that Oklahoma City acknowledge him, then says he will acknowledge the fact that Reigns gave Rhodes his word and tells him that he should trust him. Sikoa then says Rhodes will need Reigns because Orton and Owens will be no good for him, then questions how long Rhodes has been trying to take down The Bloodline and says Owens and Orton have let him down every time they’ve tried to help. Owens then says the only thing that needs to be acknowledged is that no one cares what Sikoa has to say. Owens then challenges The Bloodline to a tag team match and Rhodes suggests that they have a 6-Man Tag Team Match. Owens then stops Rhodes and tells him that he’ll have a chance to get his hands on The Bloodline at Bad Blood. Owens then issues a challenge to Sikoa and Jacob Fatu for a tag team match against him and Orton.

We then get video footage from last week of Bayley and Naomi both pinning WWE Women’s Champion Nia Jax at the exact same time. Nia Jax and Tiffany Stratton were then shown backstage and Jax was annoyed. Jax says she doesn’t understand how they didn’t get rid of either Bayley or Naomi last week. Jax then grabs Stratton by the neck and Stratton apologizes for last week. Jax then says if it ends bad for her, it will end really, really bad for Stratton. Jax then smiles and says they can be friends again after the intensity lessens. The camera then stays on Stratton’s face long after Jax leaves and Stratton looks angry.

Bayley then makes her way down to the ring for the first match of the night, which is a WWE Women’s Championship #1 Contender’s Match and Naomi follows.

WWE Women’s Championship #1 Contender’s Match: Bayley vs. Naomi

The match starts off with Naomi rolling up Bayley, but Bayley kicks out. Both women then lock up and Naomi rolls Bayley up once again, but Bayley kicks out and sends Naomi crashing into the top turnbuckle face first. Bayley then looks to hit a right hand on Naomi, but Naomi sees it coming and shoves Bayley twice. Bayley then returns the favor and hits a shoulder tackle on Naomi before nailing her with a clothesline and an arm drag out of the corner. Naomi then hits a Bulldog on Bayley using the ropes for extra leverage, then follows it up with a kick on her head that sends Bayley crashing out of the ring. Naomi then flies over the top rope and hits a Tornillo on Bayley to land on her. Bayley then hits a leg drop on Naomi in the corner and follows it up with a back elbow. Bayley then hits a double underhook suplex and a dive on Naomi through the bottom rope, then sends her back in the ring. Naomi then hits Bayley with a Rear View when she slides back in the ring and goes for a pin, but Bayley kicks out. Both women then nail each other with forearms before Naomi hits a kick on Bayley’s head and follows it up with an enzuigiri. Naomi then sends Bayley crashing into the mat and hits her with a Blockbuster, then follows it up with a kick on her head. Naomi then climbs to the top and flies, but Bayley moves out of the way and hits her with the Bayley-To-Belly. Bayley then climbs to the top and hits Naomi with an elbow drop for the win.

The winner and new #1 Contender to the WWE Women’s Championship, Bayley!

After the match, Naomi is dejected, but she pats Bayley on the back. Naomi then stares at Bayley from the ramp looking angry as Bayley celebrates on the turnbuckles.

We then get video footage of WWE United States Champion LA Knight retaining his title against Andrade last week. We then see the awkward handshake at the end of the match. We then head to the back, where Andrade approaches Knight and tells him he had lost respect for him because he didn’t shake his hand like a man. Before Knight can answer, Carmelo Hayes blindsides Knight and sends him tumbling over an equipment crate. Hayes then tells Andrade he has something for him too and makes his way down to the ring for the next match of the night. Andrade then makes his way down to the ring next.

Singles Match (Part VI): Andrade vs. Carmelo Hayes

The match starts off with Andrade hitting a dropkick on Hayes. Andrade then looks to follow it up with the Bull’s Horns, but Hayes avoids it and delivers some strikes on Andrade. Andrade then hits a powerslam on Hayes on the ring apron. Andrade then delivers some chops on Hayes. Andrade then follows it up with a shoulder tackle, but Hayes looks to hit a springboard crossbody on Andrade. Andrade then avoids it and hits Hayes with a Dragon Screw, then runs the ropes but Hayes responds with a Codebreaker and goes for a pin. Andrade then kicks out and Hayes looks to hit a meteora on Andrade. Andrade then avoids it and hits Hayes with one of his own. Hayes then hits a springboard DDT on Andrade and goes for the pin, but Andrade kicks out. Andrade then climbs to the top, but Hayes joins him up there. Andrade then pushes Hayes off and looks to hits him with a moonsault. Hayes then rolls out of the way, but Andrade immediately transitions into a standing moonsault and goes for a pin and Hayes kicks out. Hayes then sends Andrade crashing into the mat and follows it up with a twisting neckbreaker. Hayes then goes for a pin, but Andrade kicks out. Hayes then climbs to the top, but Andrade meets him up there and looks to send him crashing into the mat, but Hayes counters into a cutter. LA Knight’s music then hits and he makes his way down to the ring. Knight hops up on the apron and distracts Andrade, opening the door for Hayes to roll up Andrade for the win.

After the match, Knight offers his hand to Andrade. Andrade then walks past it and slides out of the ring. Andrade then walks away and the crowd boos.

We then head to the back, where we see Kevin Owens and Randy Orton having a conversation. Cody Rhodes then walks in and asks Owens to speak with him, but Owens says he couldn’t at the moment because they were getting ready for their match. Owens then stands up and tells Cody to not interfere in their match later on. Orton then says if they need the help, he will love it if Cody helps and he will talk to Owens to let him know he gave Cody the okay to help.

We then get a video vignette on “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles and it says he will make his return to Friday Night SmackDown on next week’s show.

The O.C.’s Michin then makes her way down to the ring for the next match of the night, which is a Singles Match and Piper Niven and Chelsea Green follow.

Singles Match: The O.C.’s Michin vs. Piper Niven

The match starts off with Michin wasting no time in going after Niven. Michin delivers some strikes on Niven, then nails her with a dropkick. Niven then hits Michin with a shoulder tackle, but Michin responds with a hurricanrana and charges at her. Niven then sends Michin crashing into the mat and looks to hit a senton, but Michin moves out of the way. Green then gets in Michin’s face, opening the door for Niven to fly off the apron with a cannonball to land on Michin. Niven then runs Michin over with a shoulder tackle and follows it up with a cannonball to her in the corner. Niven then goes for a pin, but Michin kicks out. Michin then delivers some chops on Niven, then follows it up with a series of kicks and a Crucifix Bomb. Michin then goes for a pin, but Niven kicks out. Niven then sets up for a Vader Bomb on Michin, but Michin sees her coming and looks to hit the Eat Defeat. Niven then avoids it and hits Michin with a Michinoku Driver, but Michin responds with a kick on Niven’s head and climbs to the top. Niven then knocks Michin off with a right hand, then looks to hit a senton on her that sends her crashing through the garbage can that Green brought to the ring on the outside as Green distracts the referee. Michin then moves out of the way and Niven is sent crashing into the garbage can. Michin then hits a boot on Green that sends her crashing onto the floor from the apron and gets Niven back in the ring before she hits her with the Eat Defeat for the win.

The lineup for next week’s episode of WWE SmackDown is then announced.

We then head to the back, where Naomi is shown walking and Bayley approaches her and apologizes for beating her earlier in the night. Naomi then says Bayley isn’t sorry, but it is okay because if she would have won, she wouldn’t be sorry either. Naomi then says they’ll run it back someday eventually. Naomi then continues to walk and Stratton shows up. Stratton says Naomi will have a good view of Jax beating down Bayley. Naomi then says she will go to SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis to make a match between herself and Stratton official for next week.

Kevin Owens’ music then hits and he makes his way down to the ring for the main event of the night. Randy Orton’s music then hits and he makes his way down to the ring next.

We then get video footage of Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns’ segment from the Georgia Tech Football Stadium. The Bloodline then make their way down to the ring for the main event of the night.

Tag Team Match: The Bloodline (“The Tribal Chief” Solo Sikoa and “The Samoan Werewolf” Jacob Fatu) vs. “The Viper” Randy Orton and “The Prize Fighter” Kevin Owens

The match starts off with Kevin Owens and Jacob Fatu. Both men nail each other with right hands. Fatu then hits Owens with a back elbow, but Owens returns the favor and hits Fatu with a senton. Solo Sikoa then tags in and Fatu holds the ropes open for him to get in the ring. Sikoa then hits a headbutt on Owens, but Orton calls to be tagged in and Owens obliges. Fatu then calls to be tagged in on his side and Sikoa does so. Orton then delivers some right hands on Fatu in the corner, but Fatu responds with some strikes on Orton and clotheslines him out of the ring. Fatu then follows Orton out there, but Orton sends Fatu crashing on top of the announce desk. Fatu then quickly recovers and gets fired up, but Orton sends Fatu crashing on top of the announce desk several more times. Sikoa then sneaks up on Orton, but Orton sends Sikoa crashing on top of the announce desk. Sikoa and Owens then teeter on the ropes, but Owens fights Sikoa off and looks to hits him with a Swanton Bomb. Sikoa then gets his knees up and hits a Hip Attack on Owens, then tags in Fatu. Fatu then assists Sikoa in hitting a Hip Attack on Owens and hits one of his own, then sends Owens into the corner and tags in Sikoa.

Sikoa then continues wearing Owens down, but Owens nails Sikoa with an Atomic Drop and hits him with a clothesline. Orton then tags in and exchanges right hands with Sikoa. Orton then follows it up with a powerslam and hits a second one on Fatu, then nails a hanging DDT on Sikoa. Fatu then hops up on the apron, but Orton nails him. Orton then turns around into a Samoan Drop from Sikoa, but Owens tags in and hits several running sentons on Sikoa and Fatu on the outside. Owens then hits a Frog Splash on Fatu off the ring apron and a Swanton Bomb on Sikoa off the top. Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa then make their way down to the ring and distract Owens. Sikoa then hits Owens with a Spinning Solo and pins him, but Owens kicks out. Cody Rhodes then makes his way down to the ring and takes down Loa and Tonga. Rhodes then hits Loa with a DDT and sends Tonga crashing into the ring apron. Orton then hits an RKO on Sikoa, but Fatu takes Orton down and nails Rhodes with a tope suicida. Rhodes is then sent crashing into the referee and Owens asks him what he’s doing. Fatu then hits a couple of superkicks on Owens and Sikoa pins him for the win.

After the match, Cody Rhodes tried to tell Kevin Owens that he is sorry, but Owens is clearly very upset and Orton tries to reason with everyone. Ultimately, Owens hugs Cody and the show comes to a close.
