DX inspired many kids to yell “Suck It” while doing crotch chops for decades, which has filled detentions since the late 1990s, and they’re not alone. The DX stable was not a fad, as they left a lasting impression on popular culture, and the NBA’s Joel Embiid has famously been one to chop his crotch. He’s also been punished for doing it.
The Philadelphia 76ers recently dropped a new Joel Embiid highlight video, with none other than WWE’s Triple H providing the narration. This was a very cool thing for Triple H to do, but he’s also shown Joel plenty of love over the years.
In the video, Triple H talks about how Embiid and Philadelphia have been a perfect match ever since the team drafted him in 2014. Triple H also predicted that Embiid will be staying in Philly for the long haul, reinforcing the deep connection between the player and the city.
The video, shared by the official 76ers Twitter account, captures the sentiment perfectly: “Joel ‘Troel’ Embiid—Philadelphia made for each other.”
Embiid is known for his on-court antics, often using the iconic “suck it” taunt after drawing an and-one against his opponents. This has led to fines for the star player, but his bold persona remains unchanged.
Most recently, after winning a gold medal with Team USA in the 2024 Olympics, Embiid directed his signature “suck it” gesture toward the French team, which also garnered attention. Shawn Michaels has also extended an invitation in the past to Embiid, so the guy has DX’s attention.
