The Rock has been given his flowers by many people throughout the entertainment world. His name is synonymous with muscle-filled action scenes, and that visual is exactly what Playboi Carti was looking for with his new Timeless song.

Playboi Carti and The Weeknd released their new song Timelesson Friday, September 27. The song explores themes of love, wealth, fame, and enduring relevance. It also included a reference that piqued our interest.

In the first verse, Playboi Carti compares his struggles to professional wrestling, referencing The Rock in the line, “I’m wrestlin’ all of my demons, I feel like The Rock.”

Both Playboi Carti and The Weeknd have previously referenced professional wrestling in their music. The Weeknd has also provided theme songs for several WrestleMania events, including WrestleMania 36 through WrestleMania 40. Only time will tell if WWE gives them more love in the future, but they are certainly still big fans.

Pro wrestling references are popular in rap music. Ric Flair has also received plenty of love from the hip-hop world. Naturally, The Rock’s name is mainstream enough to connect with any audience as well, along with The Nature Boy.

The Rock’s last match was during WrestleMania 40 Saturday, as he competed in a tag team match alongside Roman Reigns against Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. The Rock’s team won that match, which made the Undisputed WWE Title match on WrestleMania 40 Sunday a Bloodline Rules match. After that, The Rock also made it clear that he will be back to wrestle Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas, which is still WWE’s plan at this point.

What’s your take on this new reference for The Rock? Did this song get your Friday started off in the right way? Let us know what you think in the comments section!
