Vince McMahon has long been a controversial figure in the wrestling world, known for his bold decisions and management approach. Currently facing a trafficking lawsuit, a former WWE Superstar has now expressed that McMahon should be held accountable for his actions.
On January 25th, Janel Grant, a former WWE employee, filed a lawsuit against WWE, John Laurinaitis, and Vince McMahon. The lawsuit alleges McMahon’s involvement in sexual assault, emotional abuse, and sex trafficking, detailing incidents that took place between their initial meeting in March 2019 and March 2022.
While speaking on his Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, former WWE star Matt Hardy shared his thoughts on the new Vince McMahon docuseries on Netflix and addressed the serious accusations against McMahon. Hardy expressed that any criminal act, especially something as serious as sexual misconduct, is terrible and should not be excused.
Hardy acknowledged McMahon’s role in giving him career opportunities and improving his life financially, but emphasized that people should be held accountable for their actions, no matter their position. Hardy admitted feeling conflicted about McMahon, torn between gratitude for his career and disappointment over the strong accusations.
“It’s awful. Anytime someone does something terrible like that, especially if it is a criminal sexual act, it’s awful. I’ll say that right up front. Just the fact that Vince was the one that was responsible for giving us an opportunity, and someone I worked with much a lot over the years, and was one of the people who was responsible for giving me this great life, and really giving me the opportunity to kind of get it ahead in life, financially and whatnot. So I mean that part I will be appreciative of, but also I think in society, if you do bad and terrible things, you also need to be held accountable for them.”
“It makes me feel very conflicted about Vince. It’s one of those things where you wish you didn’t have to feel in such a negative way towards someone, but there’s a part of you that’s going to feel that negative way because these accusations are so strong.”
Even Alberto Del Rio defended Vince McMahon amid his trafficking allegations. Regardless, we’ll have to wait and see what will become of Vince McMahon as the lawsuit will proceed later this year.
