Darby Allin, known for his toughness and ability to withstand extreme pain, has been a key figure in AEW since the start. Renowned for his mastery of violent matches, he has now defended AEW’s use of intense and brutal bouts, standing by the company’s commitment to its unique style.

AEW is different from WWE due to the fact that AEW is never afraid to show brutal matches with lots of bloodshed. The All Out pay-per-view is a prime example as there were many violent spots, including thumbtacks, hypodermic needles and many more. The company was heavily criticized for the level of violence seen in the show.

While speaking to The New York Post, Darby Allin talked about people saying AEW is too violent, and he made it clear that AEW isn’t for everyone. He said that if people don’t like it, they should watch something else. He compared it to being let down if your favorite band or movie director suddenly became soft. Sometimes, he said, you have to be bold and risk offending people.

Allin pointed out that AEW is known for intense matches, with wrestlers getting needles in their faces, bricks broken over their heads, and him going through glass. Darby explained that AEW isn’t trying to please everyone; they’re focused on making a show for their most passionate fans. Even if they lose some viewers, it’s more important to stay true to who they are. According to Darby, AEW has definitely changed the wrestling world, and that’s what matters most.

“If someone thinks we’re too violent, go watch something else, because I would be so bummed if I loved a band or I loved the director, and also that director started making soft movies. Sometimes you just have to live to offend people. If you watch AEW, homies are getting needles jammed in their face, bricks broken over their heads, and me going through glass. So I’d like to think that we’re kind of drawing the line in the sand where we’re saying we are not for everybody. So we’re passionate to be who we are, even at that risks losing, you know, key like, certain viewers, but it says we’re trying to play for everybody. We’re kind of staying true to ourselves. And you take a gamble like that, and you know what I mean, it’s not always about, like, how much people are watching. It’s about the people that are watching that are, like, super passionate. And it changes, like the game. You can’t argue we have changed the game. That’s for damn sure.”

Darby Allin also believes that complacent wrestlers do not belong in AEW. Nevertheless, AEW will continue to put on brutal matches from time to time and that’s unlikely to change anytime soon.
