The heated Wednesday Night War between WWE NXT and AEW Dynamite may be over on a weekly basis, but the competition between the two brands is far from done. NXT and AEW are set to go head-to-head once again this year in two major showdowns.
From October 2019 through April 2021, NXT and Dynamite battled for ratings every Wednesday before NXT moved to Tuesday nights. While many have since moved on from that era, Nicholas Jackson of the AEW Young Bucks recently expressed his longing for the competition. He won’t have to wait long, as NXT and AEW are set to clash twice this year, the first being on October 8, when AEW airs Title Tuesday.
According to a report from WrestleVotes on the latest episode of WrestleVotes Radio, a second head-to-head battle will take place on Wednesday, November 6, as NXT moves to avoid airing on the night of the U.S. Presidential election, scheduled for November 5.
“I can report that on Wednesday, November 6, NXT will be live on Wednesday due to election night here in the US… Election Night is November 5. There’ll be a lot of attention on who the next president of the United States will be. So in wise fashion, they were able to move their night off of Tuesday and will be airing on Wednesday, November 6, which will be going head-to-head with Dynamite,” WrestleVotes revealed.
These two special occasions will rekindle the spirit of competition between WWE and AEW, allowing fans to relive the excitement of the Wednesday Night War—if only for a brief time.
With these two head-to-head showdowns on the horizon, fans of both WWE and AEW are in for a thrilling battle. Will NXT or Dynamite come out on top in this renewed competition? Only time will tell.
