WWE fans can expect to see the return of the dominant tag team formerly known as The Viking Raiders, as Erik and Ivar prepare to make their comeback with a twist—under a different name. Erik has been out of action since undergoing neck fusion surgery last November, while Ivar has been sidelined this year with a spinal injury.
Once known as War Machine in NJPW and ROH, the duo transitioned to WWE in 2018, starting as the War Raiders in NXT. They were rebranded as The Viking Experience upon their main roster call-up, eventually becoming the Viking Raiders. However, the team is now expected to revert to their original WWE name, The War Raiders, as confirmed on WrestleVotes Radio.
The cryptic “Fate is Woven” video package aired on WWE Raw was revealed to be the lead-up to their return. On the latest WrestleVotes Radio episode, the name change was discussed:
“It is the return of the Viking Raiders. But they will be rebranded back to the War Raiders,” the report confirmed, noting that with the person who didn’t favor the original name no longer in charge, the name change could happen soon.
Both Erik and Ivar are nearing full health and are expected to make their way back to the main roster under their revamped identity.
With the War Raiders set to make a return to WWE TV, fans can look forward to seeing Erik and Ivar reclaim their spot in the tag team division. The duo’s upcoming rebranding is sure to bring renewed excitement to their in-ring comeback.
