There are a few Hall of Fames in the pro wrestling world, and the Hardys could fit into a few of them. While WWE’s yearly Hall of Fame commands a lot of attention, Matt Hardy would certainly accept an offer from TNA Wrestling if they wanted them.
Matt and Jeff Hardy have expressed interest in joining the TNA Hall of Fame, and they’re down for it. Since its creation in 2012, TNA has inducted several well-known names, including Sting, Kurt Angle, Jeff Jarrett, Gail Kim, Raven, Ken Shamrock, and Abyss. The Rock even inducted Shamrock into the Hall of Fame, which was a huge moment.
Given their significant history with the company, many fans see the Hardys as obvious future inductees for TNA’s Hall of Fame. Both Matt and Jeff addressed the possibility of being honored in this fashion during their recent conversation with Fightful.
Jeff Hardy shared his initial reaction, and he thought that they were asking about the WWE Hall of Fame, which he did turn down in the past.
“For sure. Yeah. Eventually I denied it. I was just in a bad place after my dad had passed away, and I just got to a point that there was no return, something had to happen, but it just didn’t feel right when they offered it to me.”
Matt Hardy clarified that Jeff was referring to a WWE Hall of Fame offer, “You’re talking about WWE, right?” Jeff then confirmed that was what he was talking about.
Matt continued to clarify that, “he was asking TNA.” Jeff Hardy then acknowledged he hadn’t considered TNA’s Hall of Fame recently, adding, “Oh God. Oh, TNA. Yeah. I haven’t, I haven’t even thought about that. I almost forgot about that.”
Matt expressed his openness to the idea, because he certainly would accept that offer if it was extended to the brothers. After all, they have a long history in the company that spans years and multiple runs.
“I would. I mean, I feel like we’re kind of at that point in our career where we kind of reach that status where people will commonly refer to us as legends. As great as that feels, we’re still just doing our thing. We were two teenage kids from Podunk, North Carolina. But, yeah, absolutely. It’s a great honor, and if someone is willing to bestow that honor upon you, yeah, I would definitely be up for it. It is it’s a story that Jeff told me, he called me right after whenever he left WWE and they offered to put him in the Hall of Fame, but it would have been solo because I was with AEW and he said, ‘No, I want to do it with Matt,’ which was real cool and I feel like any Hall of Fame that we go into first, that’s how we should go into it, as a team.”
Jeff Hardy added with a bit of surprise, “Yeah, I did not even know Total Nonstop Action still had a Hall of Fame.” Matt Hardy then confirmed that TNA Wrestling has a yearly hall of fame induction, something that Jeff may or may not have been aware of.
We will keep our eye on this story for more updates. The WWE Hall of Fame seems to be a fitting home for the Hardy Boyz, but TNA Wrestling also has their own version. Either way, they have certainly accomplished a ton in their pro wrestling careers.
