WWE star Sonya Deville has made her return to the ring after a lengthy recovery from a torn ACL, an injury that sidelined her for 11 months.

Deville, who was Women’s Tag Team Champion at the time of her injury in the summer of 2023, recently reflected on the challenging road to recovery during her appearance on WWE – Die Woche. Describing her recovery journey, Deville emphasized how grueling the process was, stating.

“I don’t wish it [ACL injury] upon anyone. It’s a long, treacherous recovery process. You think you’re gonna get the surgery and then a couple of months are gonna go by and you’re gonna feel great, but it takes a very long time.”

Deville explained that, while she was able to start lifting weights and working out just a few months into her recovery, returning to full wrestling condition was a much more difficult hurdle.

“To get back into full-blown wrestling shape, it took a long time, and I’m still getting my confidence back in the ring. It’s still a forever-evolving process, but all is well. No pain, knock on wood. We’re good.”

Despite her nerves ahead of her in-ring return, Deville shared that the moment she stepped back into the ring, everything fell into place. “The second I hit the ring and started, I was like, oh my God, I feel like myself. I feel like everything’s back,” she explained.

Deville admitted that her primary concern was whether her leg would cooperate during matches, especially when performing her signature moves. “Wrestling’s a totally different beast… I just kept hoping, ‘I hope my leg cooperates and does what it needs to do.’ And all that came back, knock on wood.”

Now that she’s back in action, Deville is focused on regaining her in-ring confidence and continuing to build momentum as she moves forward in her WWE career.

Sonya Deville’s triumphant return to WWE after her ACL injury has been an inspiring journey of perseverance and dedication. As she works to fully regain her confidence in the ring, fans are eager to see what’s next for the talented superstar.
