As WWE Raw prepares to transition to Netflix in 2025, many fans have speculated that the move might usher in edgier, racier content for the show. However, CM Punk has tempered those expectations, clarifying that the switch will not lead to a new “Attitude Era” of full-frontal content and excessive swearing.

Speaking to KISS FM 103.5 in Chicago, Punk addressed the rumors about Raw becoming more explicit once it moves to Netflix. He emphasized that fans should not expect drastic changes to the current product.

“I don’t think you’re gonna see much difference than what it is now,” Punk stated. “We’re pushing boundaries a little bit here and there, but I want to temper people’s expectations. Some fans are saying, ‘Oh, they’re going to Netflix, there’s gonna be full-frontal and swearing’ – that’s absolutely not the case.”

Punk reflected on lessons learned from WWE’s Attitude Era, noting that pushing boundaries can only go so far before it affects the quality of the show. “You can only do that for so long before you’re trying to outdo yourself every week, and then it just becomes bad television,” Punk said.

While Punk doesn’t expect major content changes, he did hint at possible tweaks to the show’s format once it’s on Netflix, including how commercials are handled. “I think we’re gonna maybe… still have commercials, but they might not be during matches,” he speculated.

Punk also joked about Rhea Ripley potentially pushing the envelope, but dismissed any expectations of hearing explicit language.

“As much as Rhea Ripley wants to come out there and talk like an Aussie and drop a c-word here and there, I don’t think you’re gonna see that.”

In addition to his comments on Raw’s future, CM Punk is gearing up for a showdown against Drew McIntyre at WWE Bad Blood inside Hell in a Cell. Before that, Punk will serve as the special guest referee for next week’s NXT debut on The CW Network, overseeing the NXT World Championship match between Trick Williams and Ethan Page.

As WWE heads into a new era with Raw on Netflix, CM Punk’s insights provide a clear picture of what fans can expect. While format changes may be on the horizon, the content will stay true to what has made WWE a global phenomenon.
