Since departing from WWE after WrestleMania 39, Shane McMahon has maintained a low profile in the wrestling industry. However, recent rumors have sparked curiosity regarding his potential involvement with AEW. Shane held a meeting with AEW CEO Tony Khan earlier this year and now McMahon’s status for AEW Grand Slam has been revealed.
On July 29, 2024, Khan and McMahon had a private meeting at an office near Arlington airport. This was their first direct talk, even though Khan had wanted to meet with McMahon before. They reportedly discussed possible ways to work together, which has led to more rumors about McMahon’s role in AEW.
During an exclusive live Q&A interview with WrestleVotes hosted by Joe Lowry, Shane McMahon’s potential move to AEW was discussed. WrestleVotes reported that sources close to Shane revealed no one was surprised he took the meeting with Tony Khan.
While there were no clear signs that he was heading to AEW, WrestleVotes noted that since this week’s Dynamite: Grand Slam will be held in Shane McMahon’s hometown, there’s a chance he could make an appearance.
Shane McMahon’s close friend Pete Gas doesn’t rule out McMahon joining AEW. Regardless, we will have to wait and see if Shane McMahon will end up debuting at AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam this week as fans would love to see that happen.
