Since AEW began in 2019, it has become a strong competitor to WWE in the U.S. wrestling scene. Many fans and experts compare AEW to WCW. Recently, Mercedes Mone pointed out that AEW Dynamite is close to outlasting WCW Nitro and bragged about that fact.
Even though AEW puts on great matches and has interesting storylines on its three weekly shows, it has faced criticism due to recent drops in viewership and attendance at live events. This has sparked worries about a possible decline for the company, similar to what happened with WCW in the past.
With that said, there is no doubt that AEW is charging forward with all sorts of ideas and compared to 2023, fans feel the company has seen a marked improvement.
While speaking to The Breakfast Club, Mone talked about AEW Dynamite getting close to outlasting WCW Nitro, saying that AEW is here to shake up the wrestling industry. She mentioned that next week marks five years of AEW Dynamite, and bragged that they are surpassing WCW, which has upset some fans online.
“AEW is here to disrupt this industry. Next week, we’re going to be celebrating 5 years of AEW. We’re beating out WCW and fans online are getting mad about that every single day but it’s the best it’s ever been.”
Mercedes Mone has also made a significant impact in AEW since her arrival. Nevertheless, AEW is here to stay for the foreseeable future and that is all Mercedes Mone truly cares about.
