Hulk Hogan’s iconic career most definitely altered the course of professional wrestling in many ways. He also made an appearance at the Republican National Convention earlier this year and has now revealed the reason for his appearance.
Hulk Hogan is a massive supporter of Donald Trump and this goes back several years. That is why it was no surprise he made an appearance at the Republican National Convention.
During his appearance at the Republican National Convention, WWE Hall of Famer referred to Donald Trump as his hero and coined the term “Trumpamania” to show his support for Trump’s campaign, making it clear he fully backs Trump.
While speaking to Barstool Rasslin‘, Hulk Hogan explained that as a businessman, he initially wanted to avoid getting involved in politics because he didn’t want to risk dividing his audience. He mentioned that some of his friends had spoken at the Republican National Convention during the election when Trump won, and when he asked a friend from Silicon Valley if they would do it again, the response was a firm no.
Hogan shared that he was hesitant to get involved at first, but over time, he grew concerned about the direction the country was heading. Reflecting on the changes from the country he grew up in, he became particularly worried about the future for his kids and their children.
At the time, Hogan admitted to staying silent, acting tough but feeling like a coward, similar to some of his friends. However, after witnessing what he described as an attempt to assassinate Trump, Hogan decided that he had enough of merely talking and felt it was time to take action, which is what ultimately motivated him to attend the RNC.
“Well, I want to stay out of politics because, as a businessman, you really don’t want to divide your audience, you know? And a couple of friends of mine had spoken at the RNC, not the last time but the time before when Trump won. I asked my friend, who lived out in Silicon Valley, ‘Would you do that again?’ He goes, ‘No.’
So, I didn’t want to get involved. But, you know, I’ve been watching what’s happening with the country, and it’s not the same place I grew up in. I was more worried about my kids and their children. So, I was cool, talking like a tough guy, being a man, and being silent — being a coward like a lot of my friends. And then when I saw them try to kill him or assassinate him the first time, I said, ‘That’s it. I’m tired of talking like a man. I’m going to stand up and be one.’ And that’s the reason I went.”
Hulk Hogan was also heavily criticized for his appearance at the Republican National Convention. Regardless, Hulk Hogan always will have Trump’s back and that’s unlikely to change anytime soon
