WWE has taken steps to oppose a recent trademark filed by TNA Wrestling, signaling that despite their growing partnership, the two companies are not on the same page when it comes to intellectual property.

On September 19, 2024, WWE filed for a 90-day extension to oppose Anthem Wrestling Exhibitions’ registration of the “Santino Marella” trademark. The character Santino Marella was created during his time in WWE, but after the trademark lapsed, Marella transitioned to TNA Wrestling, where he now serves as the on-air “Director of Authority.”

While Marella is actively using the name in TNA, WWE appears to be taking steps to assert its ownership over the trademark, despite the fact that the filing lapsed.

Stay tuned to Ringside News for more updates as the situation develops.
