William Regal is considered one of the most accomplished English WWE superstars of all time. Following his time as an in-ring competitor coming to an end, he transitioned into backstage roles, most prominently being a part of WWE NXT and its development as a formidable WWE brand.

Since 2012, William Regal served as the on-screen General Manager of WWE NXT, while also holding the position of WWE’s Director of Talent Development and Head of Global Recruiting from 2018 until his release from the company in 2022.

Regal returned to the company nine months later following his short stint in AEW and took up the role of Vice President of Global Talent Development. However, William Regal has made an interesting revelation regarding his backstage role in WWE.

The former WWE European Champion took to his X to reflect on his tenure in NXT as the brand prepares to move to the CW Network with its premiere episode on October 1. In the same tweet, Regal revealed that he still has some involvement in NXT but not at the same level as his earlier tenure.

However, William Regal applauded the hard work and perseverance of people like Triple H, Shawn Michaels and Matt Bloom, who made NXT go from a one-hour show into a spectacular of its own kind, with bigger stages and shows for its roster. Finally, Regal called it the best part of his 41-year career in WWE.

“I was part ( except for H’s family) part of the very begininging of @WWE’s @NXT. I’m still involved but not as much as I was. Thank you to H, Shaun , Matt and everyone else that fought the fight of making a one hour program on The WWE network to traveling the world and making new stars and memories for the fans. It continues today. Doesn’t matter what the colour scheme is or was, or has been, we changed the Wrestlng world although few will want to admit it. It’s been the best part of a 41 year career being @WWENXT to the core.”

With the current NXT in charge, Shawn Michaels, having an ambitious viewership goal for its premiere episode on the CW Network, it will be interesting to see the dawning of this new era that was brought this far by people like William Regal.
