Kevin Nash is once again diving into the “fake” nature of professional wrestling, stirring up discussion about how it’s perceived by fans, especially kids. While everyone knows wrestling is predetermined, detractors often love to lead with the classic line, “You know that stuff is fake, right?”

On his latest episode of Kliq This, Nash tackled the tricky topic of how parents should approach the idea of wrestling with their children. Should they break the news early that it’s scripted, or let kids believe in the magic for a little while longer, much like Santa Claus? Nash has always been open about wrestling’s scripted nature, but he also emphasizes the real pain that comes with the job.

“I don’t know how old they are. If they’re eight, they’ve already googled, ‘Is this shit fake?’” Nash humorously responded to skeptics by saying, “Yeah, they go, ‘Not the chairs.’ I go, ‘Oh yeah, that’s the fakest thing of all.’”

Reflecting on his own experiences, Nash shared a recent health scare: after a flight, he woke up with sciatica despite not having done anything strenuous. An MRI revealed a couple of herniated discs, which he attributed to years of bumping and wrestling with heavyweights.

“I woke up off an airplane a couple weeks ago. I didn’t take a bump, I didn’t do shit, I didn’t work out, I didn’t jerk off, I didn’t take a fucking straining dump, and man, I had sciatica, and it didn’t go away, and I went and got an MRI, and I’ve got a couple herniated discs, and that ain’t from anything except cumulative damage to doing that ‘fake’ bullshit, landing on wood, with a 300-pound guy landing on top of you.”

Nash’s candid insights highlight the ongoing debate about the perceptions of wrestling, blending the worlds of entertainment and real physicality in a way that only he can.
