Deonna Purrazzo, known to fans as “The Virtuosa,” is ready to take her wrestling career to the next level—and that includes working with NJPW.

Since joining AEW, Purrazzo has delivered standout performances against top stars like Thunder Rosa, Hikaru Shida, Toni Storm, and Willow Nightingale. With Toni Storm no longer holding the AEW Women’s World Championship, many fans believe Purrazzo is positioning herself for another shot at the title. But her aspirations don’t stop there.

In a recent interview with The Wrestling Classic, Purrazzo opened up about her excitement for AEW’s growing women’s division and her desire to explore more international opportunities, particularly with NJPW. As she noted, AEW’s partnerships with promotions like NJPW and STARDOM have opened new doors for women in wrestling.

“That was the goal coming into this year. I was the first big signee of 2024, and I got to debut in New Jersey, my hometown. From day one, it was incredible,” Purrazzo explained. “Now, to see how the division is growing—Mercedes [Mone] coming in, Anna Jay just getting back from a tour in STARDOM, the New Japan STRONG Women’s Champion—there’s that partnership with New Japan. The division has grown tremendously, and there’s so much potential in the stories we can tell.”

Purrazzo has already worked for both TNA and NJPW’s Multiverse United shows in 2023, so her connection to the Japanese promotion is well established. Now, she’s eager to deepen that relationship and create new, exciting narratives for wrestling fans across the globe.

“I would love to go back to Japan, and I would love to work with New Japan more. The possibilities are endless, and I’m just really excited about it.”

As Purrazzo continues to solidify her spot in AEW, she’s also reportedly working on building a faction within AEW Collision, adding even more intrigue to her future plans.

Deonna Purrazzo is clearly on the rise in AEW, and her ambition to work with NJPW shows she’s thinking bigger than ever. Whether it’s another AEW Women’s World Championship run or a cross-promotional storyline, Purrazzo’s fans can expect big things from “The Virtuosa.”
