Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix have been important in AEW since the company started in 2019. Lately, there were rumors that both wrestlers had signed long-term deals with WWE, causing excitement among fans. However, those rumors aren’t true for now, and it seems Rey Fenix will be staying in AEW longer than people expected, despite rumors about them possibly joining WWE.

Last month, rumors started about Penta being in talks with WWE, with reports suggesting that he and Fenix would only join if they both signed together. WWE was said to be very interested, especially in Fenix. Cory Hayes from PWN even claimed that WWE had already signed The Lucha Brothers and was planning to debut them directly on the main roster.

However, that was not the case as The Lucha Brothers are still under AEW contracts and there is no way they can leave for WWE right now. While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that Penta may be leaving the promotion soon.

However, Rey Fenix could remain under contract for nearly a year due to missed time from injuries. While Fenix’s contract is set to expire at the same time as Penta’s, AEW might extend his deal because of the injury clause. The situation remains uncertain, as Fenix hasn’t been informed about any release or departure yet, even though he is reportedly interested in leaving.

“As far as Rey Fenix goes, it’s still up in the air with Tony Khan. I was told tonight that Rey Fenix has not been told that he’s being released or going to be allowed to go, and he’s got like a year left because of injury time. His contract itself is up the same time that Pentagon’s would be, but they could keep him for another year. I don’t know what’s going to happen and nobody knows what’s going to happen. I know, obviously, he wants to go, we’ll see.”

We have also reported that The Lucha Brothers are available to wrestle during their AEW hiatus. Ultimately, we’ll have to wait and see if The Lucha Brothers make the move to WWE when everything is settled. While it seems their time with AEW may be nearing its end, nothing is certain yet.
